Grayn privacy policy

Effective September 7, 2026. Grayn is developed by Mihai Bold in Romania. This policy covers the iOS and Android apps.

Photos and camera processing

Grayn processes photos, film simulations and imported looks on your device. It does not upload your photos, camera preview, imported LUTs or presets to a Grayn server. Camera access is used to compose and capture photos. Photo-library access is used to save and browse images. Sharing or exporting sends only the content you choose to the destination you select.

Location and notifications

If you enable location tagging, Grayn reads your device location and writes it into saved photo metadata. Grayn does not send that location to its servers. Anyone you share an original photo with may be able to read that metadata. You can turn location tagging off in the app or revoke location permission in your device settings.

Optional photography reminders are scheduled on your device. You can disable reminders and notification permission at any time.

Purchases

Apple or Google processes payments. Grayn does not receive your card details. Grayn uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access and manage film-roll and lifetime entitlements. RevenueCat processes purchase history, transaction information, an app user identifier and the technical information needed to provide its service. These records support app functionality and purchase analytics. Purchase data may be processed outside your country by these providers.

See RevenueCat's privacy policy and the privacy information provided by Apple or Google. Grayn does not use advertising SDKs or sell personal data.

App usage and diagnostics

The iOS app uses Google Analytics for Firebase in release builds. It records app interactions such as filter changes, settings choices, tutorial completion and purchases, along with processing times and error information. Google's SDK also processes app and device information, an app-instance identifier and approximate location derived from masked IP addresses. This helps us understand which features people use and investigate problems. These events do not contain the photo or camera preview itself. See Google's privacy policy. The Android app does not include Firebase Analytics.

Storage and support

Settings, imported looks and pending photos are stored on your device. System backups and photo-cloud syncing follow your Apple or Google settings. Purchase records are retained as needed to maintain access, handle support and meet legal obligations. If you contact support, we receive the contact details and information you send.

You can remove local app data by uninstalling Grayn. Saved photos remain in your photo library until you delete them there. Uninstalling does not remove store transaction records or refund purchases.

Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction or deletion of personal data held for support or purchase management, subject to records that must be retained for legal obligations. Contact contact@mihaibold.dev. Include enough information to locate your purchase without sending payment-card details. EEA residents may also complain to their local data-protection authority. We process purchase data to provide the service and meet legal obligations, and support correspondence to respond to your request.

Grayn is a general photography app and is not directed at children. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information through support.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when these practices change. For privacy questions or requests, contact Mihai Bold at contact@mihaibold.dev or use Grayn support.
